Avalanche Canada Daily Forecasts Resume November 25

Avalanche Canada daily forecasts return November 25, 2026, marking the start of regular avalanche forecasting for the 2026–27 winter season.

Daily public avalanche forecasts and mountain weather updates are scheduled to continue through April 25, 2027, providing backcountry skiers, snowboarders and snowmobilers with information on avalanche danger, snowpack conditions and developing weather systems.

With early-season snow accumulating across Western Canada’s mountains, backcountry travel is already underway in several regions. Avalanche hazards can develop well before the winter snowpack is established, particularly where wind has transported snow into alpine features.

Mountain Information Network Reports Are Already Coming In

Avalanche Canada’s Mountain Information Network (MIN) is already receiving early-season observations from backcountry users.

The MIN provides firsthand reports of snowpack conditions, recent avalanche activity, snowfall, wind and mountain weather. These observations help riders understand current conditions and contribute valuable field information to Avalanche Canada’s forecasting team.

Early-season observations are particularly important in areas with limited professional snowpack monitoring. Reports documenting snow depths, wind loading, crusts and early weak layers can help establish a picture of how the season’s snowpack is developing.

Backcountry users heading out before regular forecasts resume are encouraged to review recent MIN submissions and contribute their own observations.

Check the Avalanche Canada forecast map and share your early-season observations through the Mountain Information Network.
