Avalanche Canada Seeks New Directors
The Avalanche Canada Nominations Committee is seeking nominations for new members to serve on the Avalanche Canada Board of Directors. Selected candidates will be eligible for election by the membership at large at Avalanche Canada’s next AGM, scheduled for October 21, 2017.
The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated, self-directed, and a strategic thinker that is passionate about public safety and the pursuit of outdoor winter recreational activities in mountainous terrain.
Some of the areas of expertise that the Nominations Committee has identified as key to the ongoing success of the organization are: Marketing, Legal, Finance,Youth Education, Avalanche Education, Human Resources, Political (federal and provincial) Acumen, Canadian Avalanche Association Professional, and Organizational Governance.
This is an unpaid, volunteer position typically requiring 4-8 hours per month to prepare for and participate in monthly teleconference calls from September to June.

Avalanche Canada is a non-government, not-for-profit organization dedicated to public avalanche safety. We issue daily avalanche forecasts throughout the winter for much of the mountainous regions of western Canada, providing this free information via our website and our app, Avalanche Canada Mobile. We also coordinate and deliver avalanche awareness and education programs, provide curriculum and support to instructors of Avalanche Canada training programs, act as a central point-of-contact for avalanche information, and work closely with many different avalanche research projects, both at home and abroad.
