Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has officially entered the history books, recording its snowiest December since the resort opened. Total snowfall for December 2025 reached an extraordinary 340 centimetres (11 feet), pushing the season-to-date total to 540 centimetres (over 17 feet) and surpassing the previous December record set in 2017.

A relentless sequence of Pacific storm systems late in 2025 delivered one of the deepest early-season snowpacks the resort has ever seen. The result: the most consecutive days of fresh snow and powder skiing and riding in Kicking Horse’s history.

“This isn’t just a great start; it’s a historic one,” said Richard Oszust, General Manager of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. “To see our December records fall after decades of operation is a testament to the incredible season we are experiencing. The conditions on the mountain right now are truly once-in-a-lifetime.”

The record was officially sealed following a powerful series of storms over the December holiday period, bringing the entire 3,486-acre resort into play with top-to-bottom coverage and standout conditions from summit to base.

“Our mountain operations and safety teams have worked tirelessly to manage this unprecedented volume of snow,” Oszust added. “The quality of this early-season powder is some of the best we’ve ever seen. We are fully operational and looking forward to a legendary winter for our guests.”

For Powder enthusiasts, this milestone reinforces Kicking Horse’s reputation as one of BC’s most snow-rewarding and technically compelling big-mountain destinations—now with a December snowfall record to match.
