Canada Is Having a Great Winter
Canada is having a great winter — it’s snowing right across the country, from the Powder Highway and the Rockies to the Coast, Québec, and the Maritimes. Cold temperatures, frequent storm cycles, and strong snowmaking conditions have combined to deliver reliable coverage and excellent skiing in multiple regions at once. It’s not a one-off or a lucky stretch — it’s a season firing on all cylinders. Skiing in Canada is the envy of the world.
The Powder Highway: Southeast B.C. at Its Snowy Best
British Columbia’s Powder Highway — the legendary cluster of resorts running through southeastern B.C. — is doing exactly what skiers expect. Fernie Alpine Resort, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Whitewater Ski Resort, and Revelstoke Mountain Resort are all reporting excellent snow conditions.
Kicking Horse made history with its snowiest December on record, while the rest of the Powder Highway is right on pace with — and in some cases ahead of — typical annual snowfall totals. Deep bases, frequent refreshes, and classic cold smoke have defined the early season.
Banff: Record Snow Meets Record Crowds
In Alberta’s Rockies, Lake Louise Ski Resort and Sunshine Village also logged their snowiest December ever, with roughly 500 cm piling up. That snowfall translated into a booming holiday season for Banff, proving once again that big snow equals big business.
Whistler: North Was the Smart Play
On the Coast, Whistler Blackcomb topped 300 cm of December snow, standing in stark contrast to rain-impacted conditions in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. Holiday-week social media chatter from American skier forums told the story: passholders headed north to find winter where winter actually showed up.
Eastern Canada Delivers
Québec ski areas also enjoyed abundant snowfall and ideal snowmaking temperatures, driving strong visitation through the holidays and reinforcing the province’s reputation for reliable winter skiing when conditions line up. The Maritimes also joined the party, with cold temperatures supporting strong snowmaking and periods of natural snowfall delivering reliable holiday skiing.
Ski Canada!
From the Powder Highway, to Banff, to Whistler, to Québec, this winter isn’t a one-off — it’s a coast-to-coast win. The snow is real, the turns are deep, and the lifts are spinning.
This season, the advice is easy: ski Canadian resorts. The snow is here — and Canada is absolutely having a moment.
