Give the Gift of Winter
If holiday shopping has you spiraling into another tab of “stuff nobody really needs,” here’s a better idea: give the Give the Gift of Winter, a gift that actually lasts.
Winter.
That’s the pitch from Greg Hill, POW Canada Athlete Alliance member, and it hits home. Because the thing most of us want—deep storms, cold nights, reliable snow—doesn’t come wrapped in paper anymore. It comes from showing up.
Protect Our Winters Canada exists for one simple reason: if you love winter, you can’t be neutral about climate change. POW turns skiers, riders, climbers, and mountain towns into climate advocates—people who don’t just talk about disappearing winters, but work to protect them.
This isn’t abstract. It’s policy. It’s pressure where it counts. POW Canada focuses on real, systemic change at the provincial and federal level, because saving winter means cutting emissions at scale—not just recycling harder and hoping for the best.
And they do it by building a community that actually understands the stakes:
• Athletes using their platforms for more than podium shots
• Scientists grounding the conversation in facts, not vibes
• Local chapters across Canada organizing, educating, and pushing back
• Everyday skiers learning how to turn passion into influence
Right now, the timing matters. For December only, Arc’teryx is doubling all donations, instantly doubling the impact of every dollar. More support. More pressure. More powder days in our future.
So far, the community has raised $60,698.53.
There’s $29,301.47 left to go.
If winter has given you anything—joy, escape, community, or purpose—this is a chance to give something back.
As Greg puts it: “Thinking about the future should be cause for celebration.”
Let’s make sure there’s something worth celebrating when the storms roll in.
