Mustang Powder Sold to Aspen-based Heli

After more than two decades of delivering some of the best powder skiing in the world, Mustang Powder Cat Skiing is proud to announce a new chapter. Mustang Powder is now owned by Heli—an Aspen-based digital platform specializing in booking adventure travel—marking a significant shift in the landscape of backcountry skiing.

“Heli shares our passion for big mountains, tight-knit groups, and unforgettable days in the backcountry. With this partnership, Mustang Powder and Heli are committed to preserving the high standard of backcountry skiing and snowboarding experiences that our guests have come to expect,” stated Mustang Powder in their announcement.

This acquisition is Heli’s third major backcountry skiing operation purchase, spearheaded by co-founders Andy Culp and Brock Strasbourger. https://heli.life/

Andy Culp, CEO of Heli, embodies the unique blend of ski-bum culture and business acumen, effortlessly transitioning between resort slang and corporate speak. A passionate skier from the East Coast who spent time skiing in Vail, Culp also boasts extensive experience in finance from his tenure in New York City. Prior to co-founding Heli, Culp was in sales at CMH, one of Canada’s premier helicopter skiing companies.

President Brock Strasbourger mirrors Culp’s dual interests, with a background that spans finance and tech startups. Raised in Aspen, Strasbourger has deep roots in skiing, humorously recalling his days as a “park rat” snowboarder before ultimately returning to his skiing heritage.

The pair’s shared vision to “consolidate the fragmented market that is adventure travel,” as Culp explains, inspired the launch of Heli in 2016. Through Heli’s digital marketplace, customers book high-quality adventure experiences globally, ranging from luxury ski lodges in Japan to surf retreats in Mexico, supported by expert travel advice.

This latest acquisition of Mustang Powder follows Heli’s earlier purchases of Great Canadian Heli-Skiing in British Columbia (2022) and Colorado’s Silverton Mountain (2023), further solidifying Heli’s presence in the global backcountry ski industry.
