Join the Backyard Backcountry Challenge

The Backyard Backcountry Challenge is a fundraiser for Avalanche Canada that challenges participants to raise money for public avalanche safety by climbing the equivalent vertical of Mount Everest, the highest point on the planet at 8,849 metres or 29,028 feet.

It is not a race. It is not about the fastest or longest journey. The aim is to motivate, energize, and encourage you to share your backcountry activities.

The challenge runs from April 1–19 and REGISTRATION IS OPEN.

The first 100 people to sign up will receive an Avalanche Canada neck tube. All participants will receive a one-month voucher for FATMAP Explore, and will be entered in the weekly prize draws, as well as the draw for the two grand prizes.

Grand prizes: Mammut Light Removable Airbag and Mammut Barryvox S transceiver

Weekly prizes: The North Face Base Camp duffel, Arc’teryx Blade 28 backpack, Dakine Syncline 12L hydration pack, and many more!

Get outside, get active, and help support Avalanche Canada with the Backyard Backcountry Challenge!

Make sure to travel safely and check avalanche.ca before you head out.
